I feel a very unusual sensation – if it is not indigestion, I think it must be gratitude. (Benjamin Disraeli)
Call me old fashioned, but I love a hand-written thank you note. I probably know I don’t write them enough. I also know how much I love to receive them. There is something very special about someone taking the time to pen a personal message and send it by snail-mail. E-mail is nice, but snail-mail is so much better.
Opening the letterbox to the sight of a hand-written envelope sandwiched between all the bills and direct marketing is a small joy, especially because it means that somebody has been thinking (nice thoughts!) about you…
I guess you don’t need a card to say thank you – a hand written letter will do the trick nicely. But, there are so many gorgeous choices in stationery that just seem to scream out to me. I am building a wee collection, but there’s always room for more…
Here are some that I particularly like:
And, not strictly a thank you card, but a range that I particularly like:

Oh gosh! I could not agree more about the pleasure and old fashioned thoughtfulness of a hand written card! There are so many to chose from too – in fact one of my dreams is to go into the card design and stationary business! Alas, it is becoming somewhat of a lost art form, one that must be celebrated and preserved (especially with these clever and modern designs!).
Happy Farmer’s Marketing!
Off to dine with friends!

Hi,
There is nothing like going to the letterbox and seeing a letter there from a friend, or a postcard from someone that is on holidays. I have always enjoyed getting these, but of course now we get a lot of e-cards, e-mails etc. I must admit I have a lot of friends that go to the trouble of buying Birthday and Xmas cards and send these out by post, I of course still do the same as well. 🙂

There is nothing wrong with being old fashioned and taking the time to express thanks the “slow” way. We have slow food movements and slow fashion movements perhaps we should have a slow life movement where we actually take the time to appreciate friends and family the slow way which does not involve texting or emails (she says as she types on her laptop!) They are lovely, quirky cards and I love the fact that people are becoming aware of all the things that we have forgotten about in our fast moving lives. Thank you for your blog!

I love stationery; I love letterpress. Have you investigated into getting a letter press machine? It could be really cool to make your own cards? I have thought about it – I might do so in future. So creative!

I’m with you, Marina. I love letterpress, too. It’s getting increasingly challenging to find old letterpress machines AND learning the art AND there are some very talented letterpress businesses already out there. I rather suspect it is a labour of love and the idea is more romantic than the reality! 🙂

I love letters, whether pressed, written or carded. I belong to a wonderful thing called Postcrossing where you send and receive postcards from all over the world. It’s fun, easy, the cost of a stamp and you find out more about the world each time. The local postie just loves our mailbox and I love the act of dropping a card in the big red box on the corner. You may want to check it out.

You will love it! I’m so glad when I get another postcross fan. I love to sometimes paint an original little watercolour of the area if they are into art. I want to see a great post when you get that first card!
